Best Onewheel Knockoff: The One That Beats Them All
Onewheel boards are known for their unique design of a motorized board with a single wheel.
Unfortunately, the cost of the original Onewheel electric skateboard is too high for many riders so we asked our experts to find out what the best Onewheel knockoff is and then compare it to the original Onewheel models available today.
Our research has concluded that the best Onewheel knockoff is the MagWheel Trotter T1 and Trotter T3 which are similar when comparing looks, build, and features, but the Trotter has a much lower price. Although they are missing some great features and quality they are worth a look.
Onewheel boards are similar to a skateboard except that they only have one large motorized wheel in the center of the board and they are eclectic and self-propelled.
Onewheels, considered the best boards, are becoming very popular with all ages. The Onewheel is an excellent source of relaxation and fun, and even exercise, in addition to its usefulness as a commuting device.
However, because of the specifications, safety features, quality, and low production of the onewheel, it is not very affordable for most people and this stops people from purchasing and enjoying a Onewheel.
The Onewheel Pint as an example costs about $1050, while the high price of the Onewheel GT base model costs about $2200.00 in the USA.
Consequently, many people are on the lookout for cheaper versions of a onewheel that can still perform the basic functions of the original Onewheel boards. Let us briefly discuss the best onewheel knockoff, and compare it with the original onewheel and see how the pricing compares.
The Best Onewheel Knockoff
The original Onewheel was first introduced to the world by a company called Future Motion back in 2015. Since then, the company has dominated the Onewheel industry and was the only option.
We have done a lot of research and looked at 5 Onewheel knockoff boards which you can see on our article on Onewheel knockoffs. Of those 5 board brands only one stands out as the best Onewheel knockoff and this is what we will discuss.
Thanks to all the new knockoffs, I’m hoping this will eventually bring the cost down on the original Onewheel and that this knockoff Onewheel will get better over time.
The MagWheel Trotter
The MagWheel Trotter is the best onewheel knockoff and is the one that most resembles the current models, the Onewheel Pint and the Onewheel +XR.
The Magwheel Totter models T1, T2, and T3 are made by the Chinese company CHANGZHOU SMILO MOTORS CO., LTD and go under the brand name Magwheel.
The Trotter has some really interesting features and prices which get better with each upgrade model. There are four models of the Trotter
Trotter T1
The Trotter has some really interesting features and prices which get better with each upgrade model. There are four models of the Trotter.
Trotter T1LH
The Trotter T1LH is similar to the T1 but is more designed for commuting with a better range of up to 27 miles.
Trotter T2
The Trotter T2 is a mid-price Onewheel designed for all-terrain and is suitable for beginner to advanced riders.
Trotter T3
The more recent Trotter T3 is the most advanced Magwheel Trotter model and has a lot more features for more serious riders, but that also means it also comes with a much higher price tag, however it is still almost $1000 cheaper than the Onewheel GT.
Physical Appearance Of The Trotter
The Magwheel Trotter one-wheeled skateboard looks almost identical to the Onewheel in many ways, however, the Trotter is more like a simpler base model when compared to the Onewheel. The MagWheel Trotter has the same sleek look, as well as the same tires but this no-frills machine is what brings the price down to a level more suitable for many riders.
Manufacturer Of The Magwheel Trotter
The Trotter is manufactured in China and then distributed to countries all over the world. The Manufacturer is CHANGZHOU SMILO MOTORS CO.,LTD
Price Comparisons
The Trotters are cheaper than the Onewheel, making them more affordable to the masses.
The Trotter T1 costs about $579.00 compared to the Onewheel Pint at $1050 to $1305
The Trotter T2 comes in around $1000.00 compared to the Onewheel Pint X price of $1400.00 saving you $400.00
The Trotter T3 costs about $1399 which is still a great price when compared to the Onewheel GT which depending on the bundle and features sells from $2200.00 to close to $2600.00 in the USA.
Overview:
The latest base model Trotter T1 claims to have a top speed of 13 mph and has a 15-mile range which provides new riders with good value and the ability to get on one of these fun boards. However, the cheaper version, the Trotter T1, has the drawback of no gyroscope, and this affected the balancing mechanism of the board.
The drawback was overcome in the new model Trotter T3 as it has a gyroscope, and is more stable. The manufacturers did a lot of work to improve the Trotter series with the Trotter T2 and the Trotter T3. With more battery power, the Trotter T3 even has a maximum speed of 21.5 mph and a 21-mile maximum range on a single charge. It feels a lot like Onewheel, which has such high demand, but it is not exactly Onewheel.

Not Sure Which To Buy
If you are still having difficulty trying to choose which one to buy keep these things in mind.
Re-sale
Onewheels have a track record of maintaining their value over time so the resale value is good.
The trotter is still too new to determine if it holds its value however there is a good chance that if you buy a Trotter and want to upgrade you should be able to sell it for a few hundred dollars less than what you paid for it, that all depends on the condition of your Trotter.
Durability
They are both known for their durability and build quality however the Onewheels have a much longer track record and as of now they seem to be more durable on the board, motor, and electronics.
Service, Parts, And Modifications
From what I hear, parts and service can be an issue for both of these electric boards. I also hear that if you try to service your own Onewheel board or you modify any internal components you will void the warranty. I’ve also heard that even changing your own wheel might void the warranty.
This means to service your onewheel you may need to find an authorized dealer or ship it back to Onewheel.
The upside to the Onewheel brand is that if you need to send it back for servicing or need parts the company is in the USA.
There are also few if any
Price and Payment Options
If you need something more affordable you can opt for a second-hand Onewheel, or go ahead with a Trotter.
The one advantage to the Onewheel is they offer a Payment plan through Klarna which can bring monthly payments down as low as $53.00/month
Have you had any experience with a Onewheel knockoff? Which one, and what is your take on it? Also, I would love to know which is the best onewheel knockoff in your opinion.
